Video tearing is noticeable problem in Ubuntu with many Nvidia cards and sometimes even with integrated intel graphics. The fix is very simple and for some reason it’s not included by default. To fix this, hop into terminal.
- Create a new file
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf. Please note that you might have to create the directory
xorg.conf.dif it doesn’t exist and you’d need
sudo touch /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf
- Open the file using
sudo nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.confand paste the following in the file:
Section "Device" Identifier "Intel Graphics" Driver "intel" Option "TearFree" "true" EndSection
Logout and Login again. This should fix everything.
